A modern reinterpretation of the leather fougère, built around the resinous, slightly animalic character of rock rose (labdanum). The opening is bergamot, neroli, and black pepper — fresher than the name suggests. The heart turns darker with lavender, clary sage, violet, and labdanum. The base of cacao, vetiver, amber, and patchouli is where it earns its reputation — dense, formal, slightly aristocratic, but never dusty. Worn at night, in cooler weather, for the kind of occasion that justifies dressing for itself.
